Springer* Jr., J. AEROSPACE NESHAP GUIDANCE: PAINTING AND DEPAINTING ALTERNATIVES FOR SELECTED DOD OPERATIONS. 9th Annual International Workshop, December 1998.

Description:

This project was sponsored by the DOD's Strategic Environmental Research and Development program (SERDP) and conducted by the EPA's Clean Processes and Products Branch at the NRMRL. In support of SERDP's objective of developing environmental solutions that improve mission readiness for federal activities, this report was developed to assist selected US Air Force Logistics Centers and US Naval Aviation Depots in the area of environmental compliance for aerospace paint and depaint operations. The aerospace NESHAP requires that military maintenance facilties such as ALCs abbd NADEPs meet minimum requirements for paint application (painting) and paint removal (depainting) operations, including emission control. This study examines current painting and depainting operations, as well as new technologies being prototyped and researched at five ALCs and three NADEPs. In addition, the aerospace NESHAP is examined in detail with a presentation of compliance alternatives.
