Description:

The Environmental Technology Verification report discusses the technology and performance of the Xonon Cool Combustion System manufactured by Catalytica Energy Systems, Inc., formerly Catalytica Combustion Systems, Inc., to control NOx emissions from gas turbines that operate without an air management system. The Xonon system features a partial fuel combustion in the catalyst module followed by complete combustion in the burnout zone downstream of the catalyst. The test engine was a Kawasaki M1A-13A gas turbine generator set (1.5 MW). The mean outlet NOx concentration was 1.13 ppmv, dry basis at 98-99% load in an ambient temperature of 15-25 degrees C.
