ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY VERIFICATION REPORT, C. LEE COOK DIVISION, DOVER CORPORATION, STATIC PAC (TM) SYSTEM, PHASE II REPORT. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, EPA/600/R-00/122, 2000.

Description:

The Environmental Technology Verification report discusses the technology and performance of the Static Pac System, Phase II, natural gas reciprocating compressor rod packing manufactured by the C. Lee Cook Division, Dover Corporation. The Static Pac System is designed to seal the natural gas compressor rod during pressurized stand-by, which is approximately 55% of the time on average, to prevent natural gas from escaping to the atmosphere. The verification tests were carried out on the 4-in. diameter rods on four natural gas reciprocating compressors powered by two 8-cylinder, 2000 hp engines operated by ANR Pipeline Company. The Static Pac System reduced 96% of the rod packing emissions, or 0.49 scfm methane per Static-Pac equipped rod, on average while the compressor was in a pressurized standby state.
