HENRY'S LAW CALCULATOR

Citation:

Weaver, J W. HENRY'S LAW CALCULATOR. 2004.

Impact/Purpose:

To assist decision-making by improving approaches to subsurface contaminant transport modeling based on evaluation of field observations and subsequent development of appropriate modeling approaches and tools.

Description:

On-Site was developed to provide modelers and model reviewers with prepackaged tools ("calculators") for performing site assessment calculations. The philosophy behind OnSite is that the convenience of the prepackaged calculators helps provide consistency for simple calculations, and access to methods and data that are not commonly available. Henry's Law Constants characterize the equilibrium distribution of dilute concentrations of volatile, soluble chemicals between gas and liquid. For this calculator, the liquid is water. Temperature-dependence is calculated by two methods: one developed by the EPA Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response and the other published in the journal Ground Water and written by John Washington in 1996.
