Impact/Purpose:
The Suwanee River(Florida)Water Management District will develop new maps to further define seagrass coverage in the Suwanee River area. These new maps will assist the District and other environmental agencies and organizations in monitoring and restoration activities of seagrasses.
Description:
This project will continue to develop baseline data to document the current status of seagrass habitat and its relationship to water quality in the region. Implement monitoring programs and map seagrassess throughout the entire Big Bend region. Within this study area, three approaches will be taken: 1) mapping of seagrass cover from new aerial photography; 2) implementation of a regular seagrass monitoring program, and 3) research to identify water quality requirements as they relate to seagrass protection.
