DIAGNOSIS OF PAST FISH AND WILDLIFE POPULATION DECLINES SUPPORTS ESTABLISHMENT OF WATER QUALITY CRITERIA TO PREVENT FUTURE DIOXIN TOXICITY EVENTS

Citation:

Cook, P. M. DIAGNOSIS OF PAST FISH AND WILDLIFE POPULATION DECLINES SUPPORTS ESTABLISHMENT OF WATER QUALITY CRITERIA TO PREVENT FUTURE DIOXIN TOXICITY EVENTS. Presented at EPA Science Forum, Washington, DC, June 1-3, 2004.

Description:

This work not only establishes clear epidemiological connection between the known toxicity of dioxin-like chemicals and failure and recovery of the Lake Ontario lake trout population, but also provides tremendous insights into the role of other management activities, such as stocking, commerciall fishing, and laprey control, play in the sustainability of fish populations.
