Description:
Brewer 147 is located in Olympic NP, measuring ultraviolet solar radiation. Irradiance and column ozone are derived from this data. Ultraviolet solar radiation is measured with a Brewer Mark IV, single-monochrometer, spectrophotometer manufactured by SCI-TEC Instruments, Inc. of Saskatoon, SK, Canada. The UV monitoring under EPA's UV-Net program is coordinated with measurement programs of other U.S. Federal agencies through the U.S. Global Change Research Program. Brewer 147 is located on the roof of a concrete building about 4.5 meters above the ground. The building, part of a Coast Guard Station, is surrounded by water to the north, east, and south, and has an unobstructed view of the sky in all directions, with the exception of distant terrain. There is a small meteorological tower to the SW and a Coast Guard tower to the NW. The Brewer has been recording data at this site since December 1997.
