Impact/Purpose:

The purpose of this manual is to provide state and local regulators with guidance for reviewing corrective action plans (CAPs) that propose alternative cleanup technologies.

Description:

This guidance manual is comprised of several chapters, each of which describes in detail alternative cleanup technologies for underground storage tank sites. Each chapter provides diagrams and tables to aide in determining whether a particular technology may be applicable for cleanup at a given site. The current effort will focus on developing three new technology chapters and updating an existing chapter: A) Monitored Natural Attenuation This chapter updates an existing (and outdated) chapter, and as such presents current information on the state of the science with respect to natural attenuation processes for remediation of contamination from leaking underground storage tanks.
