PLANNING FOR PEDIATRIC ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM SPONSORED BY THE AMBULATORY PEDIATRIC ASSOCIATION
Impact/Purpose:
The goals of the fellowship program are to: "(1) expose generalist pediatricians to issues in environmental health, (2) educate pediatricians about the many interactions - biological, social and cultural - that occur between children and the environment, (3) increase the quality and quantity of research and teaching in pediatric environmental health, and (4) create a cadre of leaders in this emerging discipline." Description:
The Pediatric Environmental Health Fellowship program is a three year fellowship which will emphasize teaching, research and mastery of scientific and grant writing skills, the development of advocacy skills, and the the ability to review pediatric environmental health literature and risk assessments. The planning portion of the activity will include two meetings of the APA Fellowship Oversight Committee, curriculum development, information dissemination, and activities for year one of the fellowship program.
