A variety of aquatic life and human health water column criteria and guidance are under development:

    - Aquatic Life: MTBE, tributyltin, atrazine, selenium, diazinon, nonylphenol, copper, lead, silver, iron, zinc, nickel, updates and clarifications to the 1985 Aquatic Life Guidelines. - Human Health: Human Health Methodology Technical Support Documents for Bioaccumultaion and Exposure
Contaminated Sediment Guidance:

Technical papers are being prepared to provide the scientific basis for equilibrium partitioning sediment guidelines: dieldrin, endrin, metals mixtures (copper, lead, nickel, silver, zinc), and PAH mixtures.

Purpose/Objective:

Criteria and guidance for the protection of surface water quality provides information and recommendations to states on the science and technical guidance needed to establish numeric or interpret narrative criteria and guidelines in state water quality standards.
