SOURCE APPORTIONMENT OF SECONDARY SULFATE IN PORTNEUF VALLEY, IDAHO PM-10 NONATTAINMENT AREA

Impact/Purpose:

Attainment Demonstration

Description:

Region 10 will use Chemical Mass Balance (CMB) modeling in a effort to apportion secondary sulfate that significantly contributes to the total PM-10 mass observed on ambient filters in the Pocatello, Idaho area. This study will investigate whether it is reasonable to apportion the secondary sulfate based on apportionment of primary particulate emissions in either the coarse and/or fine fraction particulate to known industrial sources, mobile source emission, or other area sources in the area. The results of this study will be used in a demonstration whether the control strategy in the PM-10 SIP will be adequate to attain and maintain the ambient air quality standards.
