AL HARMFUL ALGAL BLOOM (HAB) INFORMATION EXCHANGE
Impact/Purpose:
This project will provide researchers, managers, media and the general public a mechanism to access: (1) the most recent Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) monitoring data from all agencies and researchers in Alabama, (2) graphic representation of HAB distributions during bloom and non-bloom events, (3) a link to HAB information in nearby regions, and (4) basic educational information on HABs and Red Tides.
Description:
This project proposes to implement an integrated web site that will serve as an Alabama Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) Information Exchange Network. This network will be a stand-alone site where HAB data from all agencies and research efforts in the State of Alabama will be integrated into a comprehensive report on HAB distributions in state waters. In addition, this report will be consistent with other preliminary efforts in the Gulf region aimed at providing a Gulf-wide information network on HABs and HAB related issues.
