Impact/Purpose:

This project will provide information on the neurodevelopmental effects of exposure to pesticides and the onset of Asthma in children of East Harlem.

Description:

Mount Sinai Medical Center has a Children's Health Center, funded jointly by EPA and NIEHS. Their Center (one of eight in the country) focuses on the neurodevelopmental effects of exposure to pesticides and PCBs. This project leverages the resources of this well-funded Center to perform some research evaluating the correlation between exposure of children to pesticides and asthma. The project will also perform asthma outreach and education to all participants.
