INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE INSPECTION TRAINING WORKSHOP.

Impact/Purpose:

The goal of this course was to not only help build the capacity of the inspectors from the different countries' environmental programs, but also to develop a cadre of trained facilitator that can subsequently deliver the course for their colleagues.

Description:

The first delivery of the Environmental Compliance Inspector Training Workshop was delivered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 24-26, 2001. The topics covered included: Role of the Inspector; Enforceability of Requirements; Inspection Planning; Collecting Evidence; On-Site Activities; Interviewing Techniques; Sampling; Documentation, and Facilitator Skills. This was a "Train-the-Trainer" presentation intended to provide the training materials and skills so that selected participants will become facilitators of the course in their respective nations. Since this workshop had attendees from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Phillippines, Viet Nam, and Brunei it also allowed for significant networking between the participants.
