ROCKY MOUNTAIN WATERSHEDS VOLUNTEER MONITORING NETWORK (RMWVMN)

Impact/Purpose:

The primary goal of this effort is to create a monitoring design framework (process), training model and dissemination network that will help watershed groups , conservation districts, volunteer monitors and local organizations within EPA Region 8 produce meaningful data that can be translated into information useful to decision-makers.

Description:

Planned outcomes for this project include the following: 1) Standardize the design process in order to improve monitoring and assessment in the region for physical, chemical, biological stream, lake, wetland, watershed, community scale indicators and project specific efforts. 2) Create a pool of trainers and a set of training materials that will guide existing and new watershed monitoring and assessment efforts through the program design process by tayloring it to their goals and intended uses of the data. 3) Create a training network which will connect qualified trainers to training needs in the region. 4) Compile existing monitoring guidance in a single place and keep it up to date.
