CITY OF MILWAUKEE VOLUNTARY AIR TOXICS REDUCTION PROJECT
Impact/Purpose:
Community Based Air Toxics Reduction Project to assist communities in the assessment and/or reduction of air toxics in an area using voluntary approaches
Description:
Development and coordination of a broad-based stakeholder workgroup that will meet to discuss, review and recommend strategies to USEPA on practical, cost-effective and voluntary methods for achieving air toxics reductions within a specified neighborhood, locale or region within Milwaukee. City of Milwaukee Health Department is EPA's key contact. The study area has not yet been determined. The project used existing NATA and other data to do a preliminary "light" assessment of the area. Recognized that benzene, formaldehyde and acrolein were driving concerns. Community determined that focus would be on mobile sources, especially those that were diesel fueled.
