Miltner*, R J. COAGULATION. Chapter 10, Clark, R.M. and Boutin, B.K. (ed.), Controlling Disinfection By-products and Microbial Contaminants in Drinking Water (EPA/600/R-01/110). USEPA, Cincinnati, OH, (2002).

Description:

This chapter reports on the efforts of the USEPA to study conventional and enhanced coagulation for the control of disinfection by-products (DBPs) in drinking water. It examines the control of DBPs like trihalomethanes, haloacetic acids and the surrogate total organic halide in the context of the Disinfectant/Disinfection by-product Rule. Control of total organic carbon (TOC) and specific ultraviolet adsorption (SUVA) is also examined. Secondary effects of particulate and microbial control, dissolved aluminum and filter run time are also presented.
