Description:
The Mid-Continent Ecology Division (MED), located on the shores of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota, is a division of EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD). As part of EPA's community-based ecosystem protection (CBEP), MED coordinates oRD's ecological effects research to address critical scientific issues facing the Great Lakes and Great Plains. Our mission is to provide scientific information on ecotoxicology and aquatic ecological effects to reduce the uncertainty in risk assessments and support risk management option selections.Our research supports both prospective and retrospecitve risk assessments through the development of methods and models to screen, diagnose and predict ecolotical effects.
