Description:
A wide array of effective water quality management and protection tools have been developed for urban environments, but implementation is hindered by a shortage of technology transfer opportunities. This National Conference on Tools for Urban Water Resource Management and Protection was designed to facilitate the educational process and transfer state-of-the-art information to state, regional, and local urban water quality practitioners.
The timing for this Conference coincided well with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's release of the NPDES Storm Water Phase II Final Rule in October 1999. The conference provided participants with practical, applied information on the most effective tools and technologies for meeting these new NPDES permit requirements. Program topics weree carefully chosen to reflect the Phase II Program's six priorities: public education, public involvement, detection and elimination of illicit discharges, construction site runoff control, post-construction storm water management, and pollution prevention for municipal operations.
This document includes many of the papers presented during the conference, and a copy has been provided to each attendee. All papers included were peer reviewed.
