Description:

The paper gives an overview of the characteristics of coal-fired industrial boilers in Taiwan and projections of the cost and performance data for retrofitting several boilers with reburning. The impacts of reburning fuel type on the reburning system design and cost effectiveness are also examined and are shown to be an important factor for reburning application in Taiwan. The goal of the demonstration will be to achieve a nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions reducting of more than 50% with no adverse impacts on boiler performance or operation. The results of the project will hopefully demonstrate that reburning can be applied to reduce NOx emissions from industrial boilers. The demonstration was initiated by a study to investigate the technical feasibility of applying reburning to coal-fired industrial boilers in Taiwan. The demonstration is being conducted under an ongoing bilateral cooperative agreement between the U.S. EPA and the Environmental Protection Agency in Taiwan.
