Description:

Investigations are underway at Lake Texoma, to develop decision support tools and information to evaluate the transport and attenuation of contaminants and stressors in a lake ecosystem, and link them to observable ecological effects. The U.S. EPA, USGS, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, University of North Texas (UNT), and Oklahoma University (OU) are collecting and analyzing data to target stressor input into Lake Texoma. Data are being collected on a monthly basis and are stored in various databases. To collect and evaluate the data, a desktop Geographic Information System (GIS) was built. Each GIS data set consists of point features based on the locations of U.S. EPA, OU, and UNT monitoring sites. These point features are dynamically linked to a geographic data-table, a water-quality data table and/or an ecological data table by a common attribute. Records can be analyzed and queried and the results shown in a graphical manner.
