Citation:

Honarkhah*, I. DETERMINATION OF 16 LARGEST PEAKS IN COMMERCIAL TECHNICAL TOXAPHENE BY GC/MS. Presented at Pittcon 2002 Global Technical Conference and Exposition, New Orleans, LA, 3/17-23/2002.

Description:

Under typical temperature and high vacuum associated with GC/MS technique, Toxaphene decomposes and produces countless fragments which are impractical to quantify. A GC/MS method has been developed using the lowest possible temperature to resolve more peaks and lower the interfering ions. 16 Largest TIC peaks have been ion extracted and examined for fragments of Toxaphene. In each scan there are many other ions which are the result of Toxaphen decomposition but abundance was not enough to mask real real fragments of Toxaphene. From each peak 6 ions of Toxaphene with their abundance is extracted and siplayed graphically. Due to lack of Toxaphene congener standards, this method is not suitable for Toxaphene quantitation but is veery suitable for studying of degradation of Toxaphene.
