Description:

A Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) was prepared to document the primary objectives and data collection and interpretation efforts for two landfill bioreactor studies at the Outer Loop Landfill in Louisville, KY, operated by Waste Management, Inc. WMI). The two multi-year studies include a Facultative Landfill Bioreactor (FLB) Study and a staged Aerobic-Anaerobic Landfill Bioreactor (AALB) Study. Treatment and control groups were established and consist of separate and distinct landfill units; each unit is composed of two paired cells. The primary objective for both studies is to evaluate the effect the treatment has on waste stabilization and settlement relative to the controls. Besides describing the planned experimental design and ddata anlysis aspects of the project, the QAPP also includes details regarding sampling and analytical procedures.
