Description:
The Environmental Technology Verification Program (ETV) was established in 1995 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to encourage the development and commercialization of new environmental technologies through third part testing and reporting of performance data. By ensuring that the performance data are objective, quality-assured and thorough, the ETV program assists purchasers and permitters in their decision-making processes. The ETV program operates 12 pilots that address a broad range of environmental issues, including water and air quality, pollution prevention and monitoring systems. For each pilot, EPA selected a partner organization to oversee and conduct the technology verification activities. Verification protocols are developed with the guidance of a Stakeholder Advisory Group, consisting of representatives of major stakeholder/customer groups associated with that technology area. Technology Panels for specific technology types are also established to oversee both the development of verification protocols and test activities for a given technology. The key outputs of the ETV program are quality test data and EPA/partner organization verified test reports.
