COLUMBIA BASIN SALMON POPULATIONS AND RIVER ENVIRONMENT DATA

Description:

Data Access in Real Time (DART) provides an interactive data resource designed for research and management purposes relating to the Columbia Basin salmon populations and river environment. Currently, daily data plus historic information dating back to 1962 is accessible online. DART focuses on the Columbia Basin dams and fish passage. Detailed information is brought in daily from federal, state and tribal databases to provide a comprehensive information tool. DART generates user-specified data files which can be saved to a users personal directory in a variety of formats designed to be compatible with most spreadsheet programs. In addition, DART has graphing capabilities which allow for the visual comparison of multiple variables on one plot. These output formats are available for the following data resources related to fish passage, PIT tags and the river environment: 1) Adult Passage - Daily counts of adult salmon at all major Columbia and Snake River dams (USACE); 2) Coded Wire Tag - Historic data for released CWT salmon from PSMFCs Coded Wire Tag database (version 3.1, March 1995). (PSMFC); 3) Endangered Species (NMFS ESU) - Daily counts of selected PIT-tagged endangered salmonids logged as they pass through Columbia Basin dams. (PSMFC); 4) Hatchery Releases - Daily counts of hatchery releases with some anticipated release schedules early in the season. (FPC); 5) Smolt Index - Detailed salmonid counts at fish passage observation sites. Sites include dams and river traps along the Salmon, Snake, Columbia, Imnaha and Grande Ronde rivers. (FPC); 6) PIT Tag - Daily counts of salmon containing passive transponders detected at Columbia Basin dams. Data choices include observed counts at observation dams, by release site or by USGS Hydro Unit. Detailed data regarding release, size and characteristics of PIT-tagged fish is also available. (PSMFC); 7) River Environment - Daily river environment data including outflow, spill, dissolved gas, dissolved oxygen, barometri
