Citation:

Macauley, J M. PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF SANTA ROSA SOUND MONITORING STUDY, 1997 - PRESENT. Presented at Santa Rosa Sound Coalition Meeting, Gulf Breeze, FL, 9/21/2000.

Description:

Beginning in May 1997 water samples have been collected quarterly from 37 stations in Santa Rosa Sound, from the Pensacola Beach Bridge eastward to Ft. Walton Beach. Quarterly averages for Santa Rosa Sound showing quarterly and annual variations in concentrations of dissolved nitrate, nitrite, ammonium, orthophosphate, silicate, and chlorophyll a will be presented. Initial results indicate that only a normal seasonal variation in values are present (winter low / summer high). Sediment contaminant data consisting of pesticides, PAH's, and metals results from samples collected in 1998 will also be presented. Results will be compared to guidance or criteria values; State of Florida Class III waters and ERL/ERM for sediments. Preliminary results indicate no criteria or reference values have been exceeded.
