UPPER SNAKE RIVER BASIN, PRELIMINARY BASIN EVALUATION

Description:

The purpose of this paper was to provide a process and a plan by which the Environmental Protection Agency can insure that water quality goals established in the Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972 are met in the waters of the Upper Snake Basin (17040201, 17040206, 17040209, 17040212, 17050101, 17050103). For this preliminary evaluation, the Upper Snake Basin is defined as the Snake River main stem from above the Boise River, and lower Payette River. In the following chapters, these reaches are further broken down into specific reaches having water quality problems. The basin evaluation process includes a system of defining specific accomplishments to be performed by the various programs in the Region 10 EPA Office which will result in improvement in the basin evaluation. The basin evaluation will then be expanded to cover additional geographic areas, waste sources, and water quality parameters not covered in this preliminary document.
