Description:

USGS published 2 Fact Sheets describing the February 1996 floods in northern Idaho (17010304). Fact Sheet FS-222-96, Magnitude of Floods in Northern Idaho, February 1996, by Michael A. Beckwith, Charles Berenbrock, and R.L. Backsen, describes the magnitude of the floods at 8 streamflow-gaging stations. Peak flood flows were determined by direct measurement during the floods and by indirect estimates of flow after the flood peak had receded. Peak flows were compared with historical USGS data, dating from the early 1900s for some stations.Fact Sheet FS-219-96, Water-Quality Data Collected During Floods in the Coeur dAlene River, Northern Idaho, February 1996, by Michael A. Beckwith, describes water-quality data collected at 6 streamflow-gaging stations in the Coeur dAlene River Basin.
