REPORT ON WASTE SOURCE MONITORING IN THE BURLEY, IDAHO AREA, 1974
Description:
At the request of EPA Region 10, NFIC-D conducted waste source monitoring in the Burley, Idaho area (17040209) from October 21-28, 1974 to provide an input to the water quality predictive mathematical model which covers the Milner Reservoir reach of the Snake River. Each waste source was sampled for a 3 day period while field measurements including flow were made throughout the survey. The following facilities were evaluated: Amalgamated Sugar Company Mill, Rupert; A&P Foods, Inc., Burley; Bryants Meat Packing Company, Burley; City of Burley Sewage Treatment Plant; City of Heyburn Sewage Treatment Plant; City of Rupert Sewage Treatment Plant; Ore-Ida Foods, Inc., Burley; and J.R. Simplot Company, Heyburn. Over 60% of the total BOD load (approximately 54,000 lbs/day) from the sources sampled was discharged by the Amalgamated Sugar Company at Rupert. The discharge from the J.R. Simplot Company contained over 50% (approximately 13,000 lb/day) of the total suspended solids load discharged.
