COLONIZATION OF BENTHIC INVERTEBRATES ON ARTIFICIAL SUBSTRATES IN THE SNAKE, SPOKANE, CLARK FORK, AND BEAR RIVER DRAINAGES, 1977

Description:

This study was conducted as part of a continuing monitoring program by the EPA on the physical, chemical, and biological parameters of waterways of the United States. The principal objective was to assess benthic invertebrate communities in the Snake, Spokane, Clark Fork, and Bear River systems (17040104, 170402, 170501). Samples from major river systems in Idaho have been analyzed by personnel from the University of Idaho College of Forestry, Wildlife and Range Sciences. Falter et al. (1976, 1978) reported the results of 1975 and 1976 samples from the Snake River system. This report summarizes findings of subsequent sampling in 1977. Sampling was conducted by the EPA and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare on the Bear River in late summer, 1975 and on the Snake River system in late summer, fall, and winter of 1976. Sample analysis was concluded in February 1978. Falter, C.M. and D. Wade. 1979. Project Number WR-7-0839-A. EPA, Seattle, WA. 17 pp.
