This report covers EPA's actions under the Marine Protection, REsearch and Sanctuaries Act and international obligations under the London Dumping Convention. Several tables are included in the Annual Report. 1. Permittees on implementation plans to phase out ocean dumping. 2. Permit activity by permittee, material dumped and quantities dumped. 3. Types and amounts of ocean disposal by Atlantic, Pacific, and Gulf of Mexico from 1973 through 1980. 4. Permittees and applicants denied or phased out from 1973 to 1980. 5. Ocean dumping permits phased out. 6. List of contracting parties to the London dumping convention. 7. Table of U.S. Ocean Dumping of Radioactive Materials presented during testimony before two Congressional Committee hearingss concerned with past dumping of radioactive waste. Included in information given to the Committee included a list of Atomic Energy Commission approved ocean dumping sites for which EPA has no records of dumping activities. 8. Map of ocean disposal sites sampled in 1980. 9. Enforcement actions taken. As an appendix to this report, the Annexes to the London Dumping Convention are presented.
