LIMNOLOGY OF THE LOWER SNAKE RIVER RESERVOIRS IN IDAHO AND WASHINGTON

Description:

This interim report highlights research completed in 1975 and 1976 on the joint Washington State University-University of Idaho limnological study on the lower Snake River (17050201, 170601). The objective of this study was to describe the aquatic ecology of the Snake River just above and as it flows through the 4 flow--through impoundments (Lower Granite, Little Goose, Lower Monumental, and Ice Harbor Reservoirs). Sampling frequency for physical, chemical, and most biotic aspects has been monthly in spring and fall, but increased to bimonthly in the summer of both years. Aquatic macrophyte work was more sporadic with several lengthy surveys in Little Goose and Lower Monumental pools intermittently through the summers. Mixing patters were determined only at high and low flows. Interim report jointly submitted to Walla Walla District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, by The College of Forestry, Wildlife and Range Sciences, University of Idaho and the College of Engineering, Washington State University. May 1977. 58 pp plus appendices.
