AN ADVANCED FLUE GAS MONITOR FOR SO2 - PHASE I
Description:
The development of an instrument for continuously monitoring SO2 levels in flue gas is proposed. The SO2 will be detected by means of an electrochemical sensor cell, which operates in a three-electrode potentiostatic mode. The proposed innovation is develop-ment of an advance sensor cell which uses a high-temperature solid polymer electrolyte as the sensor cell electrolyte. The objectives of the proposed program are:
- identification of potentiostatic method operating conditions for the
detection of SO2,
- design and fabrication of a breadboard sensor, and
- performance testing of the breadboard sensor.
