This report provides background information on quality assurance and defines the role of quality assurance and quality control in grounder modeling. unctional and practical quality-assurance methodology is presented which is written from the perspective of the model user and the decision-maker in need of technical information on which to base decisions. An important part of quality assurance is code testing and performance evaluation. ection is included on code testing and performance evaluation presenting the three-level testing procedure developed by the International Ground Water Modeling Center, the development of test problems and related benchmarks for the first two test levels, and a discussion of the implementation of the testing procedure.
