Description:

The bilateral agreement is the result of a research and development joint venture between EPA and BMBF that was established to compare innovative approaches to remediating hazardous waste sites. he Bilateral agreement has two objectives for each partner country: (1) to gain a comprehensive understanding of the other country's approach to remediating hazardous waste sites and (2) to evaluate the effectiveness of innovative technologies being applied at these sites. o achieve these objectives, EPA and BMBF outlined the following specific goals for the bilateral agreement: acilitate understanding of each country's approach to remediating contaminated sites; Demonstrate and evaluate innovative remedial technologies; Compare quality assurance (QA) programs; and Facilitate technology transfer between the two countries.
