Description:
The U.S. EPA's Environmental Monitoring Systems Laboratory in Las Vegas (EMSL-LV), is responsible for overseeing quality assurance of EPA's Superfund Contract Laboratory Program. n part, this oversight role involves examining QA data provided by the labs in order to investigate potential laboratory or method problems. he availability of data from many labs allows the EMSL-LV to determine trends and spot the occupance of "abnormal" quality control data values that indicate problems within individual labs that they themselves may not recognize. ecent study examined the data from labs performing poorly on quarterly performance evaluation (PE) samples in order to determine the source(s) of error(s). his study focused on the semivolatile and pesticide analytical fractions.
