Description:
This bulletin presents information on estimating toxic air emissions from Superfund sites. The focus is on the collection of air emmissions data during the site inspection and remedial investigation/feasibility study and the use of these data for the selection or implementation of treatment technologies. Emissions of volatile compounds and particulate matter during site disturbances, such as excavation, may be several orders of magnitude greater than the emissions level of an undisturbed site. The potential air emissions from the undisturbed and disturbed site must be considered before developing a site mitigation strategy.
