Description:

A study of procedures for spawning and culture of the inland silverside, Menidia beryllina, was conducted. The control efficacy of young Menidia, 21 to 37 days old, was determined in the laboratory with the 1st and 2nd instars of Aedes taeniorhynchus and Anopheles quadrimaculatus. Feeding trials were run in freshwater and at salinities as high as 25 parts per thousand by weight. Field trials were also conducted to determine if Menidia would effectively control Culex quinquefasciatus in brackish water impoundments.
