Description:

Radian Corporation, under contract to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, performed site selection, test plan development, and performance tests of catalytic incinerators used for volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions control at industrial sites. VOC emissions are of concern to the EPA because they may react photochemically in the atmosphere to form photochemical oxidants. National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for photochemical oxidants are routinely exceeded in many areas of the United States. Performance tests conducted for this project incorporated a comprehensive quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) program. The QA/QC program was designed to control data quality within acceptable limits and to provide a basis for estimating uncertainty associated with the measurement data. This report presents an assessment of data quality based on audit results, QC data, and performance test results.
