Description:

Many persistent, xenobiotic compounds have been identified from Lower Fox River water, biota, sediment, and effluent discharges; some of which are suspected of causing adverse effects to aquatic organisms. Water and sediment were collected as grab samples from the Lower Fox River in late January, in mid-March, and in late April, 1985. Samples were transported to the Environmental Research Laboratory-Duluth (ERL-D) and a determination of their potential toxicity was accomplished through laboratory bioassays using four freshwater invertebrates and one freshwater vertebrate.
