Description:
The paper gives results of a comparative evaluation of a range of biomass power generation systems. he objective was to identify systems most suitable for unique properties of biomass. he characteristics of biomass fuels were reviewed, and the performance of several gas-turbine-based cycles was evaluated using a thermodynamic model. apital and operating costs for each system were estimated. ne of the key conclusions of the study is that the efficiency penalty related to fuel moisture is minimized by utilizing biomass in a gas-turbine-based combustion system. f the gasifier combustion system can tolerate wet fuel, the expense and complexity of fuel drying can be eliminated, improving the overall economics.
