Description:

The paper discusses an EPA program investigating fuzzy logic motor control for improved pollution prevention and energy efficiency. nitial computer simulation and laboratory results have demonstrated that fuzzy logic energy optimizers can consistently improve motor operational efficiency over conventional adjustable-speed drive (ASD) operation. his is significant in terms of both potential U.S. pollution prevention and energy savings possibilities. he addition of a fuzzy logic energy optimizer microchip to an ASD is minimal in terms of cost because low-power microchips are very cheap when manufactured in volume. his, the energy avings and enhanced motor operation and lifespan should be regarded as almost free because cost payback is potentially so short.
