This paper is to be presented at the Governmental Refuse,Collection, and Disposal Association's 28th Annual InternationalSolid Waste Exposition in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, August 20-24,1990. he paper's purpose is to describe the current pollutionprevention research program assigned to the Risk ReductionEngineering Laboratory which incorporated multi-media direction inproviding practical solutions to the complex problems of wastemanagement. he pollution prevention research program follows thesix fundamental goals identified in the Pollution PreventionResearch Plan: Report to Congress. he six research goal areasare: products, processes, recycling and reuse, socio-economics andinstitutions, anticipatory; and technology transfer. unicipalsolid waste research is described for the source reduction andrecycling projects planned and currently in progress. he futureof pollution prevention research is described in several EPAdocuments as a major focus for the Agency. his paper will bepublished in the conference proceedings.
