Guttman-Bass, N. AND B. Fattal. ANALYSIS OF TAP WATER FOR VIRUSES: RESULTS OF A SURVEY. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., EPA/600/J-85/535 (NTIS PB89105464), 1985.

Description:

The paper is a preliminary report of the results of a survey which assayed drinking water for viruses on 30 rural settlements in Israel. Over the period of a year and a half, 111 samples were tested, and 3 were positive for viruses. The positive samples were from closely situated settlements, and were of relatively good bacteriological quality. The isolates were found in 300 1 samples which were concentrated on-site rather than in the laboratory (100 1 samples) and by plaque assay rather than cytopathic effect. Out of a total of 20,000 liters of water which were processed, 5 plaques were isolated. (Copyright (c) 1985 LAWPRC.)
