Description:

Methods are described for toxicity testing of water and sediment with the rooted marsh plants, Echinochloa crusgalli var. crusgalli and var. zelavensis (freshwater) and Spartina alterniflora (estuarine). ive industrial effluents, a sewage treatment plant effluent and a herbicide (metolachlor) were used in tests. ffects on germination, early growth and survival are described. he plants were sensitive to the toxicants and may be used for detection and quantification of toxicant effects in water and sediment.
