Description:

The report is the proceedings of a workshop held in Corvallis, Oregon, during November 1978, to discuss potential tests for inclusion in, and make recommendations for, a terrestrial ecology bioassay testing protocol for use in EPA/IERTL-RTP's environmental assessment programs. The workshop, sponsored jointly byEPA's IERTL-RTP and ERL-Corvallis, included participants representing both government and private researchers in the fields of plant physiology, soil microbiology, and entomology. Questions addressed included: What tests should be included in a Level 1 protocol. What should Level 1 to Level 2 decision criteria be and What kinds of tests would be appropriate at Level 2. The report summarizes key points of discussion and presents the results, conclusions, and recommendations reached in addressing stated workshop questions. Recommended Level 1 plant, soil, and animal assays are discussed, and Level 2 procedures are suggested, based on Level 1 findings.
