Description:

This study was undertaken to collect reliable onsite information on the quality of treated water produced by package plants. Six plants in operation year around were selected to be representative of those serving small populations and were monitored to assess their performance. Plants selected used surface water sources. Sampling trips were made over a 2 year period. At each plant, samples were collected of the raw water, the treated water, and water from the distribution system. Turbidity, total coliform, and chlorine residual data were collected on all visits. Standard plate counts, chemicals listed in the USEPA Drinking Water Regulations, and trihalomethanes were determined intermittently.
