A STUDY OF NEW CATALYTIC AGENTS TO DETERMINE CHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND

Citation:

Wilson, R. A STUDY OF NEW CATALYTIC AGENTS TO DETERMINE CHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., EPA/600/4-77/038 (NTIS PB270965), 1977.

Description:

This study was made to find a catalyst to replace silver sulfate in the COD method in order to reduce the cost of the determination. The results show that comparable results to the standard method for concentration of 50-500 mg/l could be obtained using a reduced amount of silver sulfate in combination with magnesium sulfate. Another procedure is described for determining COD in the range of 5-50 mg/l using a combination of silver sulfate, aluminum sulfate and magnesium sulfate to replace silver sulfate.
