OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF PARTICULATE CONTROL DEVICES ON COAL-FIRED UTILITY BOILERS

Citation:

Szabo, M. AND R. Gerstle. OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF PARTICULATE CONTROL DEVICES ON COAL-FIRED UTILITY BOILERS. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., EPA/600/2-77/129 (NTIS PB274104), 1977.

Description:

The report discusses the control of fine particulate from coal-fired utility boilers, using electrostatic precipitators (ESPs), wet scrubbers, and fabric filters. It provides guidelines to utility personnel, responsible for selecting fine particulate control equipment, on significant design and cost data correlations based on current design practice for ESPs and actual operating and cost data for wet scrubbers and fabric filters. It gives fractional efficiency prediction models for ESPs and wet scrubbers, allowing comparison of capital and operating costs under different coal/boiler application conditions and different levels of fractional efficiency.
