EVALUATION OF OXYGEN-ENRICHED MSW/SEWAGE SLUDGE CO-INCINERATION DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., EPA/600/R-94/145 (NTIS PB95177184), 1994.
Description:
This report provides and evaluation of a two-phased demonstration program conducted for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Municipal Solid Waste Innovative Technology Evaluation Program, and the results thereof, of a recently developed method of sewage sludge management. his method, know as "oxygen-enriched co-incineration," is intended to allow the co-combustion of dewatered sewage sludge with municipal solid waste in a waste-to-energy facility without affecting solid waste throughput capacity or facility operational characteristics. he report describes the demonstration program plan and the tests performed; assesses the execution of the demonstration program; provides the reported test results; and presents the results of an independent verification of the test results. lso evaluated in this report are the technical/operational, environmental regulatory/permitting, and economic implications of the commercial application of oxygen-enriched co-incineration. inally, overall conclusions and recommendations are provided based on the evaluation.
